DAC / CD Player Recapping Service

Re-cap your DAC before it's too late!
If you’re reading this, you will know that the DaCapo DAC from British Hi-Fi manufacturer Pink Triangle is still one of the best pieces of HiFi ever made! The sound is sublime, detailed and exciting and far surpasses most media streamers available today. But unfortunately they do break. The most common fault is leaking capacitors. Over time, the sound degrades, and if it is left for too long, the power supply transformers often fail from the extra stress placed on them by the shorting caps. If you’re really unlucky (as I was with one of mine…) the failures can also damage the analogue filter and the DAC module which can be a difficult problem to resolve.
I now offer a re-capping service for the DaCapo, Ordinal, Cordinal and Litaural CD Players and DACs. I replace all of the power supply electrolytics with Panasonic Audio Grade caps. These are high quality devices with a low ESR offering excellent performance and a long lifetime.
How does this work?
Once you have purchased this item, I will supply you with an address. It’s your responsibility to package up your DaCapo and send it to me by an insured and tracked postal service. I will then re-cap the unit and test that all is fully working to spec.

Single Bit DAC Replacement

Single-Bit DAC Module for DaCapo
I have repaired numerous DaCapo DACs over the years and I have now developed a brand-new DAC module that can be used to fix this iconic piece of kit!
The module is a like-for-like duplicate of the original DaCapo DAC design. The only modification is a slight upgrade to the power supplies used for this important part. The original uses 3x LM317 regulators to supply, one for each channel and one for the DAC. I have replaced these with more modern ultra-low noise LT3045 regulators. In addition, I have introduced a further two regulators just to power the final output ICs on each channel to further reduce noise and distortion on the output.
What you get?
You will receive a fully-populated PCB which fits above the existing DAC module. This is pre-tuned to work with your DAC.
How do I fit it?
Full fitting instructions are provided. You will require a drill, soldering iron, tweezers and a steady hand. This modification is not recommended for beginners! If you aren’t confident fitting this yourself, or if you are unsure if the DAC module is your issue, please contact me and we can discuss further.
